The Kids are feral and something n eeds to be done. They need a night where rockin' and dancin' are not mutually exclusive, but rather two siblings who had a falling out for a while but are now getting along like never before. They need a night where they can see some of the most exciting new djs for absolutely diddly squat. And what's more they need it on both sides of the big pond. Well now they've got it..…children, we give you Calling All Kids! In London they need the gorgeous girl dj duo The High Fives and an Indie Kid turned Dance Kid turned "Hell, I love playing everything" Kid - Weekend Steve . They need a monthly party in the heart of Hoxton with two live acts showcasing the best new bands coming up from the scene. In New York they need a night where they can see a lovely Parisian lady, Melody Nelson , who knows a thing or two about new music and the getting kids dancing, and an Irish man, Eamon Harkin, with a nice accent and big heart who knows his way around the wheels of steel and has decided it's time (damn it!) to come state side and get the kids jiving to his blend of tunes. They need a night in an exclusive downtown cubbyhole where they can throw their head back, get their groove on and leave their cares at the door. Together this trans-Atlantic team of musical misfits are putting on a pair of parties that combine the best of rock and dance -- and a whole lot more besides with a crazy energy that is dangerously infectious. On a recent jaunt back to London to visit his pals Eamon Harkin was enjoying a quiet moment supping on a pint of ale in London hipster central - Shoreditch. Before long the particular watering hole which he had chosen to find solace had morphed into a room oozing with throbbing dangerous energy. It was a lethal concoction of rock'n'roll, dancing, style, swagger and a palpable sense of the zeitgeist. He stayed, he partied, he had the time of his life and he got to know boys and girls behind the whole shebang. What he had just experienced was London's first dose of Calling All Kids (an off-shoot of the massive weekend hipster party, Frog). It just so happened -- as is often the case in the modern age -- that he was one degree removed from Weekend Steve, one of the chief architects of C.A.K and so they soon fostered a solid friendship and the serendipity of that memorable evening led to a plan to take Calling All Kids to New York City. So that's what he did. Teaming up with his sometimes cohort Melody Nelson they brought Calling All Kids to downtown Manhattan. So in a word - ESSENTIAL . Calling All Kids plans to save New York & London's young, and not so young, more than one tune at a time. See you there.
